Description
The bacterium Listeria monocytogenes can cause disease in humans and animals and is thought to be transmitted along the food chain. The purpose of this research was to study the epidemiology of listeriosis in farm animals to define the source and spread of L. monocytogenes. Furthermore, L. monocytogenes isolates from different sources were characterized to determine whether strain differences in virulence and cytopathogenicity exist.
