Description
A discussion of 120 runic inscriptions from the British Isles, which assesses the contribution of these short inscriptions to our understanding of Scandinavian influence on Britain between 800 and 1300. The inscriptions are presented geographically, from South-East England to Orkney and Shetland, in order to examine the distribution and chronology of runic script across Britain. The inscriptions are accompanied by archaeological and historical backgrounds and are compared with other inscriptions in Scanndinavia. (Source: Google Books API)
